Welcome to Sinks' Digital Portfolio!

This portfolio represents the "hub" of the classes I teach at Crater BIS. A list of courses and their respective agendas are found in the left navigation column.

Integrated Literature

Integrated Literature is not a typical English class. This course integrates English with multiple subjects such as world studies and economics, but we don't stop there. Students are introduced to the basics of web design using industry–standard software to develop a web–based portfolio demonstrating their academic progress and achievements, showcasing their professional experience, and outlining their post–secondary and career ambitions. Feel free to browse through the Student Portfolios for a closer look!

Crater School of Business (CSB)

The School of Business is another unique program within the school of BIS. The course integrates multiple subjects such as English, world studies, economics, marketing, web design, and business. We accomplish this by using business concepts as a focus, and utitlizing the skills learned in the above subject areas as our tools. We demand a lot of our students, but by the time they leave our program, they are prepared for the rigors of college and are well on their way to entering the professional marketplace. To learn more, visit the CSB website.

Web Design

A new class for me this year that I'm really excited to teach. Essentially an introductory course, students will learn good design practices in organizing a multi–page website. They will learn how to use Adobe Dreamweaver and a touch of Photoshop to build a website.

Mini Courses

AP/Design Lab

I designed this mini course for students specifically interested in advancing their own learning. Students enrolled in this mini take an online course offered by RCC's Computer Science Department to work toward a design certificate in either web design or graphic design. For more information, click here http://www.cratercomets.com/bis/designlab.html Additionally, students interested in taking an AP exam will find resources and ample opportunity to study.

Honors English

I designed this mini course as a supplement to Junior and Senior English. Students taking this course will be expected to read additional literature including short stories, essays, poems, and books, as well as write additinal essays. Please note, this is not an extra English credit.
