Brain Bowl is a competition in which teams of three students go head to head in answering questions covering social studies, literature, mathematics, geography, art, and current events.  The most successful teams exhibit broad knowledge of many subject areas, collaboration, teamwork, confidence, and willingness to take risks.  Brain Bowl is offered at two levels for high school students:

Master Brain Bowl is the premier competition at the high school level.  Teams generally include juniors and seniors who have competed on previous teams.  The winning team from the regional competition has the opportunity to compete in a national competition with teams from the entire nation.  Master Brain Bowl will be held Saturday, March 6.

Freshman/Sophomore Brain Bowl competition is limited to high school freshman and sophomores.  Questions are tailored to prepare these rookie teams for the high level of competitiveness required for Senior Brain Bowl.  Freshman/Sophomore Brain Bowl will be held Tuesday, March 2.

Our own school tournament will be held in January and February during lunch periods and is open to anyone who desires to participate.  Students are both scored as individuals (on the basis of how many questions they answered correctly or incorrectly) and scored as a team (whichever team has the most points at the end of the round moves on).  The tournament is double elimination with two brackets: a championship bracket and a consolation bracket.  The winners of both brackets will meet in the final round to determine which team is our school's champion.  After the schoolwide tournament, the students with the highest individual scores will also be able to represent the school at the regional competition at Southern Oregon University.
